My wife and I enjoyed our month away at lovely Emerald Isle NC. This house was perfect for our needs located on a narrow part of the island with views of the sound as well as the ocean. It has everything we needed and we especially liked having a washer/dryer on each floor as well as multiple porches and nice furniture. Nicely laid out. Kitchen well equipped with everything we needed.The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were excellent. Liked the surround sound and large screen TV in the upstairs living room but would have liked a DVD player. Gas fireplace was a nice touch for the stormy days. The couch/recliners could stand an upgrade but that was a minor point. It was just a short walk to the beach. Susan Fowler in Long Tern Rentals is so easy to work with and very helpful.

We have vacationed at Emerald for over 20 years. This was an off season vacation. Weather unseasonably cool and windy, but lovely sunny clear days. A quiet unhurried time to visit and relax. Susan Fowler at Emerald Isle Realty always makes our reservation process easy and efficient. Upon arrival all the staff is friendly, welcoming and helpful.

I tend to do way too much due diligence before I make a commitment to anything. After looking at many houses on the Emerald Isle Realty site in my price range, I was not 100% satisfied with any of them; except this house. I chose it because of its location on the island and proximity to the beach. The island is very narrow here, which means there are fewer houses and in turn fewer people on the beach. The path to the beach is literally right across the street. Perfect! The house itself is very spacious with large rooms and open concept living area. There are decks on each level, front and back which makes it easy to escape everyone for a little while to get lost in a book if you want. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, cutlery, cookware, etc., and a large fridge with filtered water. Two sets of washers and dryers!! Elevator, tub with jets in the master bathroom. This house has amenities that the higher prices houses have. We all commented that it looked like the decor was hand picked and some hand made specifically for this house. Nice touch! It also has two parking spaces under the house along with a gas grill that we definitely made use of. It was very clean; I still don't know how the cleaning staff manages to clean so many houses so well in such a short amount of time. I can't say enough good things. The elevator broke down one evening, but Emerald Isle Realty had a repairman there the next morning. It was fixed much faster than I expected! We loved that we did not have to carry things up and down the stairs. The a/C on the lower floor did not work and it was not fixed during the week we were there. :-( I hope it's fixed for aug. 2013 as I've already booked a week in this house. I agree with the previous review that some of the pans could be replaced as flaking teflon is poisonous. I can't think of any other improvements that could be made. All in all, we loved it and can't wait to return!

We have just completed a month's stay at this property and were very pleased with all aspects of the property. Although a middle row hows it has great views of the sound and good views toward the ocean. We liked the layout of the house with a master on the main (top level) and three additional bedrooms, baths and a sitting area on the level below. This worked perfectly when we had friends and family join us. Other pluses include a kitchen well stocked pots,pans, dinner and tableware, a gas fireplace; washer-dryer on both floors, jetted tub and shower in upstairs master bath and best of all, the elevator. My back was saved by not having to carry a months worth of clothing, groceries and supplies up three levels. Plenty of seating on both levels and on the porches. The wireless internet preformed well for us and we did enjoy being connected. Our bed was comfortable and all our guests thought the same of the beds they slept in. A couple of suggestions for the kitchen 1. Replace the Teflon cookware - the coatings are scratched and flaking. 2. Some intermediate sized serving spoons would be useful. The current inventory of soup spoons are sometimes too small & the others are industrial strength. 3. My experience with kitchen knives in rentals is never good. These were not that bad, I just bring my own. I suspect good sturdy knives would be quickly abused or disappear. A few other notes. 1. It took me several hour to get the TV, cable box and sound system figured out. I found the instructions under the sofa the next day. I'm sure my kids would have had it up in 5 minutes. 2. Several switches were labeled, a few more were easy to figure out but there were 3 or 4 I never deciphered. In summary, we loved this house and will certainly rent it it again.

From the moment we arrived, we knew we had picked the right place. We passed so many other houses on the way and soon realized this particular home was perfect for our needs. Two living rooms, fully appointed kitchen and deck space without end. What a wonderful property. 4 bedrooms, 4 1/2 baths and an elevator. We had 8 adults for 1 week so the elevator was particularly helpful with the move-in, considering the amount of groceries and suitcases we brought. Everyone was quite comfortable with the sleeping arrangements and the beach access was across the street. Magnificent views on both sides of the house. Ample deck furniture and parking were greatly appreciated also. I did my homework on this particular house and easily made the right choice. Without question, we will be back. This was my 5th week here, the first 3 were under the Guggenberger reservation. We liked the new stuff: sliding doors, fabulous new grill and completed driveway to 2nd carport. You still have the ugly and uncomfortable sofa. Looks like it came from someone's home rec room. What happened to the original sofa? It really went with the color selection. This is my only complaint.

What a beautiful home and so well appointed! And the views - I cannot say enough.

Neptunes Sound is like a home away from home. So clean, which to us is most important. Very easy to relax when the house is clean and comfortable. The early spring was beautiful - we watched the island come alive. Saw dolphins every day. Went to Bear Island - a little piece of paradise. Enjoyed seafood - especially since Neptune's kitchen is well equipped I cooked like at home. We look forward to our next stay.

The home is comfortable and spacious. The two washers/dryers is nice. They could really use a second refrigerator and a vacuum though and maybe a fooseball or game table. It was a great stay and convenient to the beach and sound...and Big Oak!

Enjoyed our stay. One of the best houses we've stayed in.
