"House Needs Some Love"
My husband and I rented this duplex for our family for two weeks in May. We had a very enjoyable time but found there to be numerous maintenance issues with the house that should have been addressed during the off season so as to make our time there more pleasant. Some of the issues included:Master bath exhaust fan not workingMaster bedroom vertical blinds inoperable ( needing replacement)Outside rinsing faucet falling offOutside heavy shower door fell off completely(luckily no one was injured)Hot water temperature was set too hot (dangerous for little ones)Upstairs sliding doors were almost inoperableWe realize that things break (ex. ice maker broke) and issues arise that cannot be foreseen, but all of the issues we had to report were ones that could have been corrected by a thorough inspection of the property prior to the rental season. Some of the issues were fixed during our stay but most could not be. We got the impression that it was left to the renters to find and report maintenance issues which we did not feel should be part of our vacation. We were able to enjoy our time there and the house provided us with a great location, space for our family, access and views of the ocean but we would not rent here in coming years due to the fact that we felt the owner/rental company did not due their part in maintaining the property and keeping it in good repair. In addition, some of the provisions were underwhelming. Having only a 2 slice toaster for 7 meant excessive waiting time. And having a charcoal grill rather than a gas grill meant a bag of briquettes and a 20 minute wait before cooking. For an oceanfront property, some small purchases would make for a much better stay.
Thank you for your review of your stay at Carolina Sunshine West. I am sorry that you found items in the home that were in need of repair. I have forwarded your review on to our maintenance department to ensure that these things have been resolved.

"So Pleasant and Relaxing"
For an oceanfront experience, you can't go wrong here. The house is spacious for our family of 6. The covered deck is nice for being outside and enjoying the view but also for avoiding the sun. Looking out from the living room and seeing our children playing in the sand and waves was the highlight for me. Very few people around and lots of space to feel free and playful on the beach. Hearing the waves crashing 24 hours a day is a real luxury. In the master bedroom the king bed was kind of soft, which I usually don't like, but I soon came to love the bed and spending hours there reading books with a fantastic view. The kitchen was full with all the supplies we needed for an occasional cooked meal. We spent a day at Ft. Macon and Beaufort, both worth a visit. Went to a couple movies nearby on rainy days. We were a little disappointed with the choice of restaurants - there are a few pizza joints in Emerald Isle, but nothing particularly healthy and modern. For more selection, you must go to Swansboro or towards Beaufort. It was sad to see the surrounding areas to be somewhat depressed. However, that is probably one reason our beach front house was so affordable. And when you are on the beach, none of that other stuff matters much. We enjoyed the 1000 piece puzzle supplied in the house and just slowing down. It was an awesome vacation - exactly what we needed and wanted.

Carolina Sunshine West did not disappoint! The home is spacious with a great layout and has beautiful views from virtually every room. The kitchen is well stocked with nice appliances and stunning granite counter tops. Open kitchen, dining and living room area makes it the perfect space for spending time with family or entertaining. First floor bedroom and full bath is a great convenience also. Beautiful decks on both levels provide amazing views and sounds of the ocean. We enjoyed our privacy because the house is located at the end of the block, it was so quiet! The beach is lovely, perfect for long walks and the ocean is great for swimming, boogie boarding or surfing. I also liked the fact that we were close to restaurants, groceries and shopping. Can't be beat. Will most definitely stay here again! (The check-in/out process was quick and easy, extremely friendly and helpful staff -thank you!)

"Beautiful House, Needs Some TLC"
The house is beautiful, spacious and has lovely beach colors throughout. The views from the living room and dining area/kitchen were amazing. The location was excellent, and the beach was never crowded and the public access walkway next to our house did not bother us a bit. The kitchen was well stocked and had great counters, sink and stove. The deck furniture was great we loved the white lifeguard style chairs! The house really needs a few things to make it comparable to the East side, as well as more comfortable. The upstairs ocean front blue room needs a king bed, or at the very least, a new mattress as it was so hard and uncomfortable our backs hurt. The bunk bed room was not a nice set up and all three mattresses were terribly uncomfortable like sleeping on the floor. Two full beds would work much better like the East side has. The screens on several upstairs balcony windows were torn and the blinds throughout didn't match. Some were updated with the nice Plantation style blinds the rest has older mangled aluminium blinds, some did not close all the way in the dining room. The two balcony doors upstairs stuck and were difficult to open and our bedroom door would not close upon arrival but maintenance arrived quickly to fix it. The carpet upstairs was stained and definitely needed to be replaced and the master bath had blue splattered paint throughout. The dishwasher did not work well. The exterior doorknobs were difficult and keys stuck. All in all, we would definitely stay here again and plan on booking it, but the bed situation would be the biggest draw back if it were not updated with new mattresses/beds. Emerald Isle Realty was spectacular as usual.

Check in and out were a snap. We had all family in 2 sides of a duplex. Living room dining room large enough to accommodate everyone from baby to grandparents. Beach lovely, uncrowded and shallow water. Even able to surf a little. Lots of things to do very close by. Golf, mini golf, go karts, aquarium, museums.
