"Emerald Isle-Loved The Beach & Area/Average Accomodations"
During the 1st week of August my wife, daughter and I went to Emerald Isle, and stated at Pier Point A3 West. This was the first time we had been to Emerald Isle, or that area, as we enjoy trying out different beaches each Summer. The area itself is very laid back, with a mix of homes and small condos. This is Not Myrtle Beach or Ocean City, Md. It's quiet and family friendly.....all aspects I personally like. The beach itself is very nice....clean, not overly crowded, and wide. As for the accommodations, there were some pluses and minuses. The unit itself is on the 3rd (top) floor, with stairs leading down to both the parking on the sound side, and beach on the ocean side. Lugging everything up and down can be a killer....but the view was terrific! Inside, there were 2 bedrooms, kitchen, family room/eating area. The accommodations were functional, and comfortable enough, but several small annoyances keep me from rating this unit higher. First, the carpet is in serious need of cleaning from the use of the Summer season. The fans in the master bedroom and living area didn't always work as they should.....sometimes they did, sometimes they didn't.....never figured it out. Finally the push buttons on both the stove and refrigerator would often stick and were difficult to operate. Considering that we spent most of our time outside, the accommodations were OK, but having traveled to multiple other locations, I've seen and had better. Overall, we really enjoyed our week at Emerald Isle, but that had a lot to do with the area, beach, local restaurants & fish markets, more than where we stayed.
Thank you for sharing your vacation experience with us. It pleases me to know that you enjoyed our area and experienced so many of the things that makes Emerald Isle a unique vacation destination. I am sorry to hear of your disappointments in the condo you rented, and it sounds like a deep clean will likely resolve most of them. Thank you for letting us know of this need.

"Nice location with a great view"
The third floor of this building offers a great view of the ocean off of the rear deck and back side out the house and the front deck allows a decent view of the sound. As others have noted in reviews I've read elsewhere, the biggest downside to being on the top floor is the steps. The unit itself was built in, I'd say, the late 1990's. The rooms spaces are nicely sized with the kitchen, living and dining areas being one large open space. The beds were comfortable and there were a TON of extra pillows and blankets in the closets. The book case by the sliding glass door was well stocked with books, DVDs, games and puzzles in the event of a rain day. The utility closet yielded an old (and dirty) beach umbrella, a pair of boogie boards and sand castle molds. The kitchen was adequately supplied but everything needed a fresh wash - I am not sure if the previous tenants didn't do a good clean before the left or what, but we rewashed everything before we used it - this wasn't a huge deal as my wife would have done this anyhow. The unit is located on a nice fairly quiet section of Emerald. There is a Dollar General and a gas station within walking distance. The beach was pretty quiet until the weekend rolled around and things picked up but it still was pleasant. We were a 7 minute drive to the Food Lion in Emerald and maybe 15 to Atlantic Beach. Our only real complaints are that the unit itself is in need of an update --- the carpeting has a number of stains on it and is looking like it's getting dirty. The kids bedroom ceiling fan wobbles horribly and the living room fan makes an odd annoying rubbing sound at all speeds but high. We didn't use the jacuzzi as we had no way of knowing how clean the water lines for the jets were. The kitchen and bathroom fixtures, at the very least, could use a refresh and there were signs of rust as well (to be expected I suppose with the harsh ocean air). The ceiling beams need recaulked as there are large cracks appearing where they meet the ceiling. The Wifi caused us issues all week - we would be showing as being connected but unable to access anything on the internet. We'd have to turn Wifi off on our devices and use cellular data half of the time. We felt that after looking at other property in the area, that this unit is priced on the high end of the rental spectrum and I'm not sure we'd stay here again as we think newer, larger units can be found for the same or very little more money. All in all, we had a great time and most of the things that fell onto our "cons" list were cosmetic or minor enough that we didn't let them dampen our enjoyment of our time there.
