Has it's ups and downs. Good value.
Small but functional cottage. Advertised as upgraded this year but recent upgrades have been minimal. Looks like a new refrigerator and maybe the stove. This is my second stay. Crossing road an occasional hazard but brief walk to the beach. A good property if you are seeking the basics. I would stay again if a low cost week was my goal. Need to bring your own linens.

excellent small rental. enjoyed stay except for one situation. came in late one evening and found that our sheets had been taken off our bed and other sheets had been placed on bed by a linen service. there was also a bag of extra sheets and towels with a mr harris name. we thought cottage had been overbooked and we could expect unknown guests at any time. we called emergency number for emerald isle realty---this is firm we used to rent cottage---and got an answering machine. message stated would return call at next business day. we called maintenance and they promptly returned call. of course they could not help. we barricaded doors and found out the next day they the realty firm owned the linen service.we were advised that is impossible to double book but people do make mistakes. we were offered our sheets back as a form of remorse but to take back sheets that may have not been ours and had been mixed in with other unknown sheets. please note that deck shown on home can not be used. overall cottage very nice. rental company failed with us. alan h.
Thank you for sharing your vacation experience with us. I apologize for the discomfort you felt when you arrived to find that your linens were replaced with those from our linen company. As you were told, our software prevents a double-booking, but I certainly understand your concern and I again apologize. As for the deck, the owners of this property are working to replace the upper deck, but until the project is complete the deck will be unavailable. Fortunately, Sugar Shack is just a hop, skip, and a jump from the beach access.

Sugar shack was nice for our getaway. Our son was recuperating from recent surgery and we enjoyed the walks to the sound and the short walk down to the beach. The house had all you needed for cooking and I enjoyed the vintage cookware reminiscent of my mom's kitchen. Beds were comfortable and we finally figured out the tv.There was no closet in the master bedroom so plan accordingly. There were plenty of drawers and an over the door hook for hanging a few items.Dollar General is less than 2miles down the road for quick purchases.I highly recommend Clamdiggers restaurant for great food reasonably priced.Staff at the realty office are very friendly and helpful.
